Last night Rich and I were lucky enough to see Kasabian and The Fratellis in Bournemouth.
I’ve been a huge Kasabian fan since their first album, and jumped at the chance to see them perform live. The Fratellis were supporting, and although I have their album “Costello Music”, I didn’t know a lot about them. For example, I didn’t know their names were Barry, Mince and Jon Fratelli. Nice. They were a little rushed - they even admitted that they were trying to cram in as much as possible, but they really put on a show - we were at the front and suffered the full force of all the crowd movements, as everyone was going nuts. If you don’t know who The Fratellis are, then you will probably already know their some of their music. Chelsea Dagger is my favourite.
Kasabian didn’t fail to disappoint either. Like many bands Kasabian hide behind a cloak of well produced artwork for many of their videos and album covers, so it was interesting to see what they actually looked like. Tom Meighan, the front-man never stopped entertaining, his energy levels were tremendous. It helped that he was only several feet away, of course, and that he has such a fantastic attitude and demeanour of a huge rock and roll star.
All in all it was an excellent concert that was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Both bands put on a great show that really delivered the goods. I took quite a few photos which can be seen in the gallery, and even a few videos which will be uploaded when I can fix a few sound problems.
Enjoy.
